I’ve been using Mythtv for about 4 years and the motherboard is occasionally showing some failures (rebooting in stead of shutdown), the disks are a bit full and hdtv playback is not smooth.

So it’s time for a new one!

I’ve placed the order at the dutch webshop www.sallandautomatisering.nl for the following components:

Thermaltake Mozart SX (new htpc case)

Case: Thermaltake Mozart SX VC7001SNS Power supply: Nexus Technology NX-3500 SE 350 Watt Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4450E 2.30 GHz Memory: Kingston ValueRam Dual Channel 2048 MB, PC6400, 800 MHz, 5, Kit Of 2 Harddisk: Samsung SpinPoint F1 750 GB, 7200 Rpm, 32 MB, S-ATA II/300 Optical Drive: Asus DRW-2014S1T S-ATA Videocard: Asus Radeon HD 3450 512 MB, PCI-e

The following components will be reused from my current htpc:

• TV-card: Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500 (dual tuner)
• Remote control: Logitech Harmony 555

And I also have a keyboard and a mouse laying around somewhere, although I don’t use it that much on my current htpc.

A quick overview of my current htpc:

Antec Overture II (old htpc case)

Case: Antec Overture I Power supply: Integrated in case Motherboard: Euh. dunno… Processor: AMD Sempron processor Memory: 1,25 GByte Harddisk:1 x 200GByte and 1 x 300GByte harddisk Optical: Asus DVD-RW (2x) Videocard: Nvidia MX4000 Operating System: Fedora 9 (was FC7, but upgraded recently) Media Center Software: Mythtv 0.21

Cause the new htpc will be built completely from scratch, I’ll see if I can post my steps, experience, config options on this blog.
